L I N G O #16: Haunted

Hello, hello and welcome to what is undoubtedly the strangest mix of music you’re going to hear on this show. Deep cuts, rare tracks, and a bunch of music that you folks sent in. It’s a tribute show, kids. A little tip of the hat to all those things that go bump in the night. This is the show that bumps back. Can you dig it?
Here’s the unholy host of horrors in this week’s playlist:
Moon Over Bourbon Street – Sting
Marionette – Ayumi Hamasaki
Igra Bez Granica – Tose Proeski
En la ciudad de la furia – Soda Stereo/Ely Guerra
Missing Persons – Go West
덩크슛 – 웨일(Whale),조권
mourir demain – Pascal Obispo & Natacha St Pier
Haunted – Poe
Your Llorona – Concrete Blonde
清秋 – Jia Peng Fang
Superstition – Stevie Wonder

Thanks to LanguageCast for hosting the show, and thanks, as always, to all of you for tuning in. Have a great week! And don’t forget to leave a comment!

So far I’ve only had a chance to listen the first half of the show (I listen to Lingo while I cook!), but I was really hooked by that “Marionette” song… it made me visualize a dark, edgy contemporary dance, even before I read the English translation. How awesome that you have opened up a whole new world of music to us!
Just so your listeners know, Tose Proeski recorded that song in Macedonian as well, but he was able to sing in several languages and the version you played is actually the Serbo-Croatian one. My bad for forgetting to mention it!
I love this episode of Lingo. ♥ ♥ ♥ >.<;;;;
Kiyoko – Thanks for the correction! I’m afraid I can’t tell the difference between the two languages at all, so this kind of thing is bound to happen from time to time!
Hyeonjeong – I’m so glad you liked it! Hello, hello!
Dude! I know I’ve said it before but this Lingo rocked! Love the guitar in the 3rd song (I think it was the 3rd). Couple’a questions if I may: A) Whose voice is it in those little ditties between songs and before remedial radio. And 2) What is the music you have at the end of the show as you close out? I hope I’m not asking you to betray any professional secrets but inquiring listeners wanna know! Looking forward to the next one.
Trav – Ask and be answered! Glad you enjoyed this week’s show!
A) The “hello hello” greetings you hear in between the songs are all sent in by listeners. (Just like the one YOU sent in!) The cute girl saying “Lingo. Lingo? (laughs) Lingo!” is 경은 (Kyeong-eun), my beautiful friend in Korea. And the new addition to the show on “Remedial Radio” is Leslie, from New York. If you think her speaking voice is good, you should hear her sing!
2) All the jingles and stingers (except the show opener) are provided as part of Apple’s GarageBand software. That’s what I use to produce the show. They really make it easy!
Thanks for your questions!
